Thigh Lift

Despite a dedication to diet and exercise, it can be nearly impossible to get rid of excess fat and sagging on the inner thighs.

A thigh lift is a highly focused surgery that contours the inner thighs by removing excess skin and fat to restore definition.

So what can a thigh lift do for you?

A Thigh Lift Can Tone & Smooth for More Defined Legs

Removes Excess Skin

Significant weight loss and aging can cause excess skin to accumulate on the thighs. During a thigh lift, the doctor will remove this tissue, revealing more toned thighs.

Sculpts & Smooths the Leg

Precise contouring and tightening allows the skin to appear smoother, even lessening the appearance of stretch marks. Many of the flaws that once deterred your from showing off your legs can be a thing of the past.

Thigh Lifts Are a Safe Surgery with Little Risk of Serious Complications

The Results Sound Terrific, But How Much Will it Cost to Achieve my Goals?

Patients paid an average of $4,906 in surgeon's fees for thigh lift surgery in 2017.* This does not include facility fees, anesthesia, and other related expenses. Typically, thigh lift surgery is not covered by insurance because it is considered a cosmetic procedure. However, many doctors offer financing options with manageable payment plans to help you cover costs.

What to Expect During a Thigh Lift

There are several thigh lift techniques that may be performed based on your specific goals. However, the most common form of the procedure is the standard thigh lift which focuses on the inner thigh.

Creating the Incision

First, the doctor will create an incision near the border of the thigh and pubic area. This allows for the most discreet scarring.

Removing Excess Skin & Contouring

Excess fat will then be removed. The remaining skin will be tightened and reshaped to create a more toned appearance.

Closing the Incision

The incision will then be skillfully closed to minimize scarring. Typically, sutures will be used for proper healing.

Monitoring Your Recovery

You will typically return for a follow-up visit a week after surgery so your doctor can evaluate your progress. In most cases, you will achieve your full results several months after the procedure.

Special Considerations for Patients Who Have Undergone Massive Weight Loss

For patients who have lost significant amounts of weight, especially after bariatric surgery, the thighs are often left with loose or sagging skin.

While a thighplasty can help with these issues, there are special concerns, such as scarring and skin laxity, which your doctor will need to take into account.

Your surgeon may need to employ specialized thigh lift techniques, such as a spiral or oblique thigh lift. In many cases, doctors will also recommend liposuction to address excess fat tissue.

Your Doctor Can Help You Decide

Procedures that utilize thermal energy or cryotherapy, such as CoolSculpting®, have become popular due to their ability to reduce fat without the need for downtime. Laser skin tightening is also an option. This procedure uses laser energy to stimulate collagen, tightening the skin. However, these treatments are typically recommended for patients with minimal to moderate concerns. For more dramatic results, a thigh lift, which can be paired with liposuction, can usually best achieve your goals.

Depending on your needs, you may have several solutions available to enhance the appearance of your thighs. Contact a doctor to schedule a consultation. They can evaluate your goals and educate you to help you make an informed decision.
